The lawmakers have called on the government to end the shortage of manure immediately. During the discussion on the issue of urgent public importance presented by UML Chief Whip Vishal Bhattarai in the House of Representatives meeting on Monday, he drew the attention of the government saying that the problem of supply of manure persists even though initiatives have been taken in the past. Participating in the discussion, MP Khagraj Adhikari questioned the government about when it would bring four lakh metric tonnes of manure to the country. He questioned where to go to buy paddy and rice as there is a shortage of one million metric tonnes of paddy in the country. He said that failure to provide fertilizer on time would reduce productivity and the country would face severe food shortage. Similarly, MP Meen Bishwakarma stressed on the need for farmers to get the fertilizer on time. MP Shakti Bahadur Basnet said that there has always been a shortage of fertilizer in the country due to various conditions in the country and green economy was important to solve the problem. MP Mahesh Basnet said that there was a need to bring a plan to convert garbage into compost manure.
