Indian Ambassador to Nepal Navin Srivastava has handed over his credentials to President Vidyadevi Bhandari. Newly-appointed Ambassador Srivastava handed over his credentials at a function held at the National Office on Thursday. He had come to Nepal on July 26 to take charge a month after his appointment. Srivastava was appointed ambassador to Nepal by the Indian government on May 15. Srivastava was appointed to replace outgoing Ambassador Vinay Mohan Quatra as India’s Foreign Secretary. Earlier, as Additional Secretary at the Ministry of External Affairs, Srivastava was the head of the East Asia Division overseeing China, Japan, Korea and Mongolia. Career diplomat Srivastava is well versed in Chinese affairs. He has played an important role in easing India-China tensions. He also led the Indian delegation to hold diplomatic talks with China on the East Ladakh border dispute at various stages. Srivastava served as India’s ambassador to Cambodia from 2015 to 2017. He has also held various positions of responsibility in Washington DC, Beijing, Shanghai and Hong Kong.
