CPN-UML has demanded to inform the House about the visit of Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba to the United States. At the beginning of Friday’s meeting of the House of Representatives, UML MP Surya Prasad Pathak demanded that the Prime Minister should stand in the rostrum of Parliament and respond to the Prime Minister’s and Chief of Army Staff’s visit to the United States. He said that the statement made by the Chief Whip of the ruling party on June 9 regarding national security sensitivities had raised serious concerns among the opposition. He said the country was concerned about national independence, sovereignty and geographical integrity, as the chief whip was expected to join the military alliance. He demanded that the Speaker should rule on the issue to the Prime Minister in the House. In a meeting of the House of Representatives on June 9, Chief Whip of the UCPN (M) Dev Gurung had demanded to postpone the visit of the Prime Minister and the Chief of Army Staff to the United States keeping in view the national security sensitivities. Stating that the current situation is very sensitive, Gurung also remarked that the current foreign policy is shifting to military policy.
