Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota has directed the government to inform the House about the rise in fuel prices. He made the ruling in the name of the government after the lawmakers drew the attention of the Speaker in the House of Representatives meeting on Monday saying that fuel prices have been increased time and time again. The speaker said that he had drawn his attention to the rise in prices of petroleum products. He directed the government to present the facts in this regard before the House. Earlier in the day, lawmakers had protested against the Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) for raising fuel prices on Sunday night. MP Padma Aryal accused the government of inflating prices. He alleged that the increase in prices by keeping stocks at petrol pumps has brought huge economic benefits. He said that the daily life of the people has been affected by the price hike in a short period of time. He further added that the proceedings of the House could not move forward unless a proper response was received from the government regarding the price hike.
